The Sovina beer was the first craft beer produced in Portugal, in the city of Porto.

A genuine beer produced using artisanal methods and developed solely with water, malt, hops and yeast, no colorings or preservatives and natural carbonation produced by yeast, following strictly traditional recipes, enriched and refined through a laborious selection that accompanies all stages of production, since the discovery of the flavors and aromas of malt and hops to the brew.

Regularly five types of beer are produced: Amber, Helles, IPA, Stout and Wheat, and seasonally are produced special editions, including the Christmas beer, a Helles Bock in the Spring and also limited editions as Sovina Vintage Amber, which matures in wine barrels, that besides the sensory experience is also a tribute to our rooted wine culture.

The Sovina beer bet on the visual stimulus, involving careful graphic communication. The typography is balanced between contemporary simplicity and the heritage implied by the old Portuguese vintage labels recomposing traditional lines. The packaging is simple and robust, the brown cardboard completes the look and emphasize the hand made production while still maintain an elegant look.

The brand identity adopted a unique design that could be applied on two sizes (33cl and 75cl bottles). Because it’s in limited numbers it was important that we found a very cost effective way of producing and printing the finished label designs, hence the incorporation of the traditional silk screen-printed technique on each bottle that creates a valued product presentation. Additionally for each bottle is designed a small printed stamp that reveals the type of the beer, alcohol and expiration date, that is manually placed on the circle on the middle of the bottle.
